Vancouver Mixologists Earn Top Honours
at Giffard International Competition in France

Edible British Columbia - Last year EBC’s own Eric flew to Angers, France to be a judge, and this year’s prestigious Giffard International Competition had another major Vancouver influence. This year however, the city was represented on the performing end. Josh Pape of Vancouver’s Chambar Belgian Restaurant was awarded second place at the 2008 event, and Brian Grant, of Yew Restaurant and Bar took forth place. Over 16 talented mixologists from Germany, England, Sweden, Poland, France and Canada took part in the Challenge, an improvisation competition in which participants draw lots to determine which Giffard liqueur they are required to include in a cocktail of their creation. They then have only one hour to develop a recipe. Drinks are judged on both taste and presentation.
Pape’s 2nd place recipe was created featuring Giffard Vanilla Madagascar.
